What Orbit is

Orbit is a local-first reminders and tasks app for Windows, Linux, and Android. Everything lives on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you activate a key or check for an update. Your database is encrypted at rest - SQLCipher on desktop and the hardware Keystore on Android - so your notes, projects, and reminders stay yours.

Built on a simple promise

Most productivity apps ask you to sign up, sync everything to a server, and trust them with whatever you write down. Orbit takes the opposite approach: no accounts, no cloud, and no analytics. It reaches the internet only for things you trigger - activating your key once, checking for updates when you tap the button, and phone sync if you turn it on. On the same network your phone connects straight to your computer, peer-to-peer. When your devices are apart, sync falls back to an end-to-end encrypted relay that only ever forwards scrambled data it cannot read.

Orbit is a one-time purchase. No subscription, ever. After a one-time online activation, your licence verifies offline forever - no check-ins, no background pings. A portable backup file moves your whole workspace between devices, still with no cloud and no accounts. Optional theme skins restyle the entire app and unlock across every device your Orbit-key is on.

Most software is paid for with data. Free apps harvest it, sync it to servers you do not control, and quietly turn your activity into the product.
